About Megan
I have personally participated in the journey of an unremediated and unaccommodated dyslexic student trying to survive the norm of “regular’ school. I have shared the sorrow, the frustration, the anger, and the complete inability to achieve. I have witnessed the destruction of self-esteem, and have seen its effects.
I have also participated in the complete empowerment of a student who knows who they are not in spite of dyslexia, but because of dyslexia. I have seen their bright eyes excited with the first taste of success, and their instinctive, reflexive, unquenchable desire to thrive. I have watched the pensive and insecure academic become confident and assertive, with a complete understanding of their radical gift set and what they need to further themselves. Over and over, I have seen this process work.
Have you ever visited a foreign country, and it became hard, or impossible, to communicate your needs? Can you imagine being required, every single hour of every single day, to thrive professionally in this environment–one of perpetual frustration and confusion? This is the academic paradigm we have set up for our dyslexic students in this country. But it does not have to be this way.
I have eight children with dyslexia. For twenty years I have sat shoulder to shoulder with them on this academic journey, home educating every single day. Every single week. Every single year. I have been trained in the neuroscience behind the Orton -Gillingham methodology as well as Executive Function skills. I have applied this with my students both in my homeschool and with my professional clients. There is no greater degree, however, than M. O. M., that motivates someone to break barriers. We have wrongly assumed this population cannot be helped, or is not smart, or doesn’t try hard enough. I can and have changed this. And I will change it for your student. Anyone reading this knows someone with dyslexia who has been told they are not smart, despite your instincts of their brilliance. It does not have to be this way, and it should not be this way.
Let’s partner to change this for your child.
My methods are based on proven neuroscience research, compounded with twenty years of one on one private instruction with dyslexic students across every subject matter. The path is not short, the path is not easy, but the path is clear, and proven, and open to your student. As a mother of eight dyslexic students, this journey is personal. Through a combination of remediation and accommodation, our goal is to do no less than change the world.
Now, let’s get moving!
